Admissions Process

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and applicants may submit their materials at any time.

Admission Qualifications

Applicants with college degrees will have preference in admission to all MECA programs. A proportion of applicants without college degrees will be accepted dependent upon an interview, demonstration of high intellectual ability, and previous experience working with children. All applicants must hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.

MECA does not descriminate on the basis of sex, race, religion, national origin, handicap, or any other personal attribute as proscribed by state law. Students from outside the United States are welcome, and assignments may be facilitated in English, French, Portuguese, or Spanish.

Aptitude, attitude, and experience all are evaluated by MECA's staff in order to determine if a candidate should be accepted into the MECA program. MECA withholds the right to deny admission to any applicant at its discretion. Admission to the program is granted only after all application materials and transcripts have been recieved and the intial interview has taken place.

Application Requirements

Applicants are required to submit the following for consideration:

  • Completed Application Forms (see materials)
  • Three References
  • Two notarized transcripts of college credits or of high school diploma

Students with a foreign degree will have that degree evaluated by an independent agency to determine its equivalence to a US degree.

Credentials

Those applicants who apply, are accepted, and complete the course of study are eligible for an AMS credential. Those with a BA or equivalent degree will become eligible for the AMS credential in Infant & Toddler Education, Early Childhood Education, or School Administration, as appropriate. Those who do not have a BA or equivalent degree will become eligible for the AMS Associates credential, and will, should they complete their BA or equivalent degree later on, become eligible for the full credential in their field. In the interest of maintaining high professional standards, MECA strongly encourages all its non-degreed students to work towards obtaining a bachelors degree and, comcomitantly, the full AMS credential in their chosen field.
